Responsibilities
- Create menus
- Direct the food prep process
- Plan & order ingredients and necessary equipment
- Arrange for kitchen repairs when needed
- Use P&L statements to effectively manage costs and meet budgets
- Hire, manage, and train kitchen staff
- Oversee kitchen staff, looking for opportunities to counsel or coach
- Foster cooperation, collaboration and respect
- Have knowledge of and enforce all safety and sanitation requirements

The Battles of the Alamo & San Jacinto, painted by local artist, are prominently displayed in main dining room with additional Republic of Texas memorabilia throughout the restaurant. "Sam Houston" (Charlie), with a great likeness (his "chops") & love for Republic of Texas history, educated & entertained many through the years at Steamboat House as well as other venues in Houston & surrounding areas.
