About Fat Chicken

Fat Chicken opened it’s doors in February 2017 featuring an all (or mostly) chicken menu by Food Network featured chef, DJ Quintanilla. A labor of love restaurant by DJ and wife, Linda Mazzei, who after dinner one night mentioned she felt “fat.” “Like a fat chicken?” joked DJ. And a new idea was born.

The couple said goodbye to their previously owned restaurant Resto Gastro Bistro on December 2016 and in less than two months completely transformed the location to a rustic, family-style, “Grandma’s Kitchen” setting.

“We went hunting for chicken memorabilia. Our china and silver is all mismatched from thrift stores and garage sales. We were hoping that the food and decor would remind guests of eating dinner at their Grandma’s house,” says Linda.

Linda’s sister, Julie Hill, did the upholstery for the bar stools. Staff worked together to paint the restaurant with vibrant, bright colors and all the light fixtures were fabricated by friend Christopher Garrison from old chicken feeders and pallet wood. And Linda sewed the curtains and pillows that adorn the restaurant herself.
