Role Summary

The Host at Vandelay Hospitality Group is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests. The Host is expected to perform in a hospitable, efficient manner and play an integral role in ensuring our guests have an outstanding dining experience. At all times, you are expected to be attentive and anticipatory to guests’ needs. Our goal is to make everyone feel welcome, comfortable, important, and relaxed, while exceeding expectations of all.

Responsibilities:

Review reservation books to strategize the most effective plan for seating, while anticipating potential problem areas.

Review guest profile notes, photos, and special requests in detail to prepare for every service.

Communicating pertinent information about incoming guests to FOH and BOH management and FOH service team.

Help to maintain CRM database by adding detailed notes during and after service.

Provide concierge level service to guests.

Maintain a high level of hospitality and professionalism with each team members and guest.

Always protect privacy of our guests and team members.

Support with welcoming and seating guests.

Developing and maintaining relationships with guests on a name-to-name basis.

Ability to be resourceful, calm, and proactive when issues arise.

Knowledge of menu items, tables, and seat numbers.

Execute opening and closing procedures.

Make guests feel comfortable while waiting.

Create or alter reservations for private bookings, events, and restaurants, getting approval if needed.

Be ready and willing to fill in where needed to ensure our high service standards and efficiency of operations by helping other team members as needed.

Professional correspondence via email, phone calls both internally and with guests.

Maintain mental athleticism for coordination with hosts, servers, and managers to seat guests in a warm and hospitable manner, while also meeting the needs of the restaurant.

Strong communication and listening skills to effectively deliver accurate messaging to both guests and

teammates.

Responsibilities

• What you will need:
• Experience working as a Host in fine dining and/or hotel environment.
• Positive attitude, a sense of responsibility and ownership of the position.
• Appetite for creating memorable experiences for our guests.
• The ability to stay calm and positive under pressure.
• Detail oriented with writing, communication, and phone etiquette skills.
• Team oriented with a strong sense of punctuality, reliability, and professionalism.
• Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Reservation system and CRM experience a plus.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency, strong work ethic, ability to mentally prioritize and stay organized in a high-volume atmosphere.
• Must display the image and philosophy set forth by the owner and restaurant management.
• Fluent in both written and spoken English.
• Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver items up to 30 pounds.
• Be able to work in standing position for long periods of time.
• Must be comfortable with repetitive motions (such as walking, bending, and standing)
