Job Description
The prep cook handles the majority of the prep for all ingredients going into dishes during service. This position often works under little supervision, so you must be able to follow recipes and be well-versed in a variety of food products and techniques. The quality of the prep work is instrumental in the quality of the finished product, so attention to detail is paramount.
Responsibilities
- Prep duties such as washing and chopping vegetables or cutting meat
- Label and stock ingredients on shelves
- Measure ingredients and seasonings
- Basic kitchen duties like reducing sauces or parboiling
- Prep simple dishes such as soups and salads
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen
- Follow nutrition and sanitation guidelines

Burntwood Tavern offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that is rich in character while featuring a straight forward, chef driven menu of smoked, planked, and wood grilled food.
All of our taverns have been designed to capture a rustic tavern dining experience, one set amidst reclaimed barn wood and accented with an impressive pounded copper topped bar. Old barns were used inside all five of the Burntwood Tavern restaurants. Hand hewn beams, barn boards and reclaimed barn wood that are rich in character from being weathered by the wind, sun and rain over decades fills the restaurants.
Custom, hand-crafted lighting and furniture fills each of our taverns. Hand-blown glass abounds, capturing the play of light and shadow derived from warm flames. Each of these pieces tell their own story and were built to accommodate the unique space that each Burntwood Tavern represents.
Our menu compliments these surroundings with classic, approachable dishes that offer inherently more. Our chef-driven approach to each and every dish provides clear points of differentiation with our offerings, while at the same time keeping the flavors simple and clean.
Our drink menu showcases handcrafted cocktails, constructed with fresh juices and Burntwood's very own house-infused vodkas.
