Job Description
The Prep Cook assists the cooks in the preparation of menu items. The Prep Cook must be able to work
quickly and efficiently to keep up with the required production levels. The Prep Cook will anticipate and
exceed customers’ needs and expectations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
-High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
-Must be at least 18 years of age.
-Spanish is a plus but not required.
-Must have Food Handler Certificate.
-Must be a team player.
-Hospitality and customer service oriented.
-Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and
decimals.
-Ability to read and understand simple instructions.
COMPUTER SKILLS
-Basic computer skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements
-Stands and walks on uneven, slippery, and/or wet surface for at least eight consecutive hours.
-Speaks and listens in-person to staff regarding food preparation and safety matters for at least
eight consecutive hours.
-Reads food safety measuring devices.
-Routinely lifts, stoops, kneels, bends, pushes, and pulls up to 25 pounds, and reaches overhead.
-Routinely carries full service tray.
-Cuts, measures, and mixes food items in a wet environment.
-Performs moderately strenuous activity for at least eight consecutive hours.
-Performs other physical requirements necessary to perform duties and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a professional and welcoming attitude while at work.
- Practices company food quality principles.
- Batch, process and portion prep according to production chart.
- Stores food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
- Prepares a variety of food.
- Washes, peels, and cuts various foods.
- Weighs or measures ingredients according to standards outlined in the recipes.
- Completes all opening and closing side work related to job duties.
- Inspects and maintains cleanliness of food preparation areas, such as equipment, and work
- surfaces to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
- Ensures freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of shelf life, and
- rotating stock.
- Other duties as assigned.
