Job Description
As sous chef, you'll play an integral role in the management of daily kitchen operations. Your creativity and development of menu items will help drive menu innovation. You will assist in inventory and labor management and focus on quality control to maximize profits. You will have the opportunity to learn many skills that can lead to advancement.
Responsibilities
- Requirements:
- Positive attitude, hard-working ethic and a drive to always be learning and improving
- 1 year as sous chef or kitchen manager with 5 years boh experience, upscale or casual upscale environment
- Good understanding of product id, ordering and receiving procedures
- Critical thinking skills and ability to identify areas of improvement to promote efficiency
- Passion for quality food
- Ability to supervise, train, teach and clearly direct boh staff
- Able to follow company guidelines and standards of practice
- Serve Safe or City of Chicago Foodservice Manager certificate
- Able to lift 50 lb and be on your feet for an extended time
- Responsibilities:
- Uphold food production quality and consistency to a high standard
- Oversee the day to day operation of the restaurant; observe, correct and report required actions
- Ordering and receiving of all kitchen products
- Supporting the team and filling in where needed
- Weekly food inventory count and keeping food cost within budget
- Menu development in coordination with executive chef
- Supervising and participating in the production and execution of private events
- Scheduling BOH staff and being active in the control of labor cost
- Follow strict sanitation practices, cleanliness and organization standards
- Expediting busy lunch service
- Catering/Banquet experience a plus
