About Azucar Ice Cream Company
azucar ice cream company, llc, located in the heart of miami's little havana neighborhood, was founded in july 2011 as artisanal ice cream and sorbet boutique. inspired by south florida's diverse cultures, our hot subtropical climate and a passion for sabor latino, we create our ice cream confections just like abuela used to make, using the highest quality ingredients and a desire to bring smiles to friends faces.
azucar ice cream and sorbet flavors use high quality, all natural ingredients. we buy our ruby red mamey down the street at the los piñarenos fruit stand and our sweet platanos maduros are hand-prepared at el nuevo siglo grocery store. whenever possible, we use locally grown, seasonal fruits and vegetables from south florida farmer's markets and redland, florida growers.
abuela (grandmother) was a very colorful person with great determination. she was born and raised in cuba and married my abuelo (grandfather) who was a sugarmill engineer. she lived throughout central and south america, always on the move due to our abuelo's job. her passion was ice cream!
my grandmother's love for varieties of tropical flavors and ice cream seems to have been tattooed on my soul! we can make almost anything into ice cream thanks to our training at penn state's ice cream university and the frozen dessert institute of st. louis.
